種子島の電波事情 2014 [ガジェット]
昨年夏に種子島に行った時に「種子島の電波事情」という記事を書きました。この記事はその2014年版です。
今回も種子島各地でスピードテストを行ったので、1年で種子島の電波事情はどのくらい変わったか見てみましょう。
去年はもともと記事を書く予定出なかったので測定回数がバラバラだったり、測定地が少なかったですが、今回はもう少ししっかりと行いました。
測定について
・測定に用いた端末はdocomoのXpelia Z(SO-02E)で、アプリは『RBB TODAY SPEED TEST』です。
(去年測定に使った「Speed Test」というアプリが無くなってしまったので変更しました。)
・測定は同じ場所で続けて3回行っています。

電波状況は時間帯、場所、周囲の人の数、端末によって大きく異なる場合があります。
あくまで参考程度にご覧下さい。

1.鹿児島空港到着ロビー（屋内）

かなりの人でごった返していますが、空港だけあって基地局がしっかりと整備されているようです。

LTEが入ったり入らなかったり、はたまた圏外になったりかなり不安定です。LTEがつながると早いですがなにぶん不安定なのであまり快適には使えません。
4.恵美之江入口

周りは森と田んぼだけで街頭も自販機もありませんがバッチリLETが入ります。しかも下りがメッチャ早い！
5.恵美之江展望公園

正面は海、背面は雑木林でパッと見では基地局は見当たりませんがしっかしとLTEが入ります。docomoさん凄い...。恵美之江展望公園は辺鄙な場所なので電波が入るか不安でしたが、公式見学場ということで事前にしっかりと整備してくれていたようです。入口同等下りが早く、とても快適にネットが繋がります。ただ上りはイマイチなので動画配信はあまり快適でないかも。
因みに、友達のsoftbankのスマホは下りが0.9Mbpsとか言ってました。
たまに圏外になるようですがsoftbankもつながるようです。
6.種子島宇宙センタ駐車場

恵美之江展望公園はLETが繋がるのに、今年も3Gしか繋がりません。しかも遅い...ただ去年食堂内で測定した時は下り0.42Mbps、上り0.35Mbpsだったので、少しは改善されてるのかも？

目を疑った。平均56Mbps!?!?????東京の町中でもまず出ないですよこの速度。何かおかしいと思って後ろを見たら、駐車場の奥に基地局っぽいものがありました。
見通しで200mくらいの距離かな。測定したのが最終便が飛び立った後ということもあり、殆ど人がおらず驚きの速度が出ました。上りも早いので、容量の大きな打ち上げ動画をすぐアップしたい人は種子島空港に来ると良いかもしれません、駐車場は無料ですし(笑

中種子の市街はだいたいLETが入ります。屋外であれば下り10Mbpsは余裕にでるのでとても快適。

今回唯一の西之表での測定。人ごみ＆屋内ということでLTEにしては少し遅めですがまずまず。
西之表も市街は基本的にLTEが入ります。

早い早い早い！
まとめ
去年の夏に行った時は種子島内では一度もLETが入らなかったことを考えると、この1年でdocomoの電波事情は驚くほど改善されました。市街であれば上り10Mbps以上は普通に出ます。
そして、去年下り54.71Mbpsで最速だった羽田の到着ロビーの記録を種子島空港の展望デッキ(下り最速57.06Mbps)が塗り替えたことが一番の驚きでしたww
利用者数が少ない分、基地局がLTE対応になると飛躍的に通信速度が増すのでしょうか？
恵美之江展望公園でも高速で通信できたのはとてもありがたかったです。 上りがもう少しでるようになれば、恵美之江展望公園から高画質でリアルタイムの打ち上げ動画配信なんかができるようになると思います。
ただ、宇宙センタ付近はLTE化から完全に取り残されており、今のところLTEエリアになる予定はないようです。
